Last year was a crazy year full of wonderful moments and difficult ones. It was a roller coaster, to say the least. During the craziness that was 2013 I took a bit of a hiatus from blogging but I’m here to really get caught up. I have so many wonderful sessions and weddings to share with you. I couldn’t think of a better way to get into the swing of things than to finally blog this incredible destination wedding I was so very fortunate to have been a part of! This was the first wedding I’ve photographed out of the country and my amazing husband even got to come along to make a much needed vacation out of it. Not only was this the first international wedding I photographed, it was also the first time Branden and I had the chance to travel out of the country together so it was an extra special experience. We spent a whole week in gorgeous, sunny, colorful island, Isla Mujeres, in Mexico. This fantastic little island is just off the coast of Cancun and made an amazing place for a destination wedding for our super fun couple.
Samantha and Adam were so much fun to get to know and work with on their amazing wedding day. This experience was full of firsts for me. This was the first time I was unable to meet my couple before finally meeting up on the island. Samantha & Adam lived in Nashville when they booked me for their wedding and although we were unable to meet in person, I had a blast getting to know Sam through messages in the year leading up to their big day. Even without face-to-face time I loved them instantly and could not wait to embark on this amazing trip for their truly special wedding. Such cool people! I can’t say enough great things about them. I love that they’re adventurous and fun-loving. I love that they’re total foodies just like we are too! These two were wonderful to work with and it was an absolute pleasure being there for their big day. I’m so thankful for the trip we got out of it and the great new experiences we had while we were there. Thank you Samantha & Adam! Thank you for choosing me to be such a big part of your big day. It was an absolute pleasure! It was so great that even the intense heat, sunburns, sand fleas & mosquitoes couldn’t bring us down! Well worth it! Ok, enough blabbing for now. Let’s get on to the tons and tons of photos I have to share from this lovely island wedding.
We’ll begin with our gorgeous bride, Samantha!
What a great bridesmaid gift! I’d wear one of these in a heartbeat!
The handsome groom, Adam.
I love the way these two look at each other. First looks are always such wonderful moments.
A little local wildlife was just begging to have his portrait taken.
I’ll never forget this crystal clear water.
The bride & groom and wedding party were like celebrities! I loved some of the great reactions we got from some onlookers.
It’s impossible to choose any favorites from this day but I loved the time we spent with these great, colorful boats. You all know how much I love color!
These two managed to bring along some truly amazing details. I can’t imagine how difficult it must have been to get all of this beautiful stuff from Nashville to Isla Mujeres but well done folks!
Zama Beach Club was spectacularly beautiful.
I was up to my thighs in the water, barefoot, with little crabs everywhere near my feet! Thankfully I didn’t look down until I was about to head out of the water, otherwise I don’t know if these great group shots would have happened! Still thankful I didn’t get pinched!
Wishing lanterns are so very cool…especially with a background like this.
Another first at a wedding: FIRE DANCERS! SO cool!
I hope you enjoyed viewing this awesome wedding as much as we loved photographing it. I can’t thank my awesome husband enough for tagging along so often to help me out. It’s always on one of his days off and in this case it was on his vacation. He’s such a truly amazing man who is always looking out for me and willing to help and for that I will forever be grateful. I hope we have many more international adventures headed our way in the future!
Stay tuned for more photos from our trip! We had a blast just roaming the little streets and alleys as well as the beaches with our cameras in tow. Looking forward to showing off more of the island and our little trip in another post.
Thanks for sticking with me through the blogging hiatus! There are so many great photos headed this way very soon!
